Check Your Coolant System

Keep your car cool this summer and remember to check the coolant system when the mercury starts to rise. Make sure to check fluid levels, hoses and the reservoir for any leaks, defects or damage. A damaged coolant system can lead to your vehicle overheating if you are not careful.

Check Your Tires

Chances are, you drive a lot more when summer rolls around – making it even more important to check your tires for wear and tear. Before you hit the road on your next summer adventure, make sure to check your tires for debris, uneven wear, distress, tread depth and tire pressure.

Check Your Engine Belts

Engine belts make your vehicle go and if you have a belt fail on summer vacation, it promises to be a real downer. Check your engine belts before any family road trip to ensure that there are no loose belts, cracks or abrasions. Make sure to replace or tighten any damaged or loose belts.

Check Your Windshield Wipers

No matter where you go on vacation this summer, there is a good chance you will get rained on. Do not get caught out in the rain with windshield wipers that do not work or have a damaged blade. Worn and damaged windshield wiper blades can create streaks that will hinder your vision.

Check Your Air-Conditioning System

When the temperatures hit the 90s or higher in Maine, you do not want to be caught with a broken air-conditioning system. Be aware of any Freon leaks that may have a negative impact on your Toyota RAV4’s climate-control system when you hit the road this summer.
