2020 Toyota Highlander Engine Specs and Features
When the 2020 Toyota Highlander arrives at Downeast Toyota in December, it will be available in five grades – L, LE, XLE, Limited and Platinum. Toyota Highlander Hybrid entries will be available in four trim levels – LE, XLE, Limited and Platinum – that provide a 17-percent increase in fuel economy. Drivers who choose Highlander L, LE or XLE models will discover a style that features a black grille with silver trim that is replaced by a black grille with chrome trim and 20-inch alloy wheels with an upgrade to Limited and Platinum grades. Entry-level Highlanders make room for eight passengers with room for seven passengers when you opt for second-row Captain’s Chairs. The Toyota Highlander provides 16.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row with up to 73.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats laid flat.
At the heart of the 2020 Toyota Highlander design, you will find a 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine that is paired with a Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission to make 22 mpg combined. A Stop and Start Engine System is in place to upgrade fuel economy and when properly equipped, the Toyota Highlander will tow up to 5,000 pounds of cargo. To deliver a more exciting drive, the Toyota Highlander is armed with Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD with Drive Mode Select and Rear Driveline Disconnect. The fuel-efficient Toyota Highlander Hybrid employs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with dual electric motors to make 240 total horsepower and earn 34 mpg combined.
