How-To Guide to Jump Starting a Toyota Prius Hybrid

  1. Open the Hood of Your Toyota Prius 
  2. Remove the Engine Cover – Lift Both Ends Vertically 
  3. Connect the Positive Cable to the Positive Battery Terminal in Your Prius 
  4. Connect the Positive Cable to the Positive Battery Terminal in the Second Vehicle 
  5. Connect the Negative Cable to the Negative Battery Terminal in the Second Vehicle 
  6. Connect the Negative Cable to an Unpainted Metal Surface in the Engine Compartment 
  7. Start the Engine of the Second Vehicle, Increase Engine Speed and Run for 5 Minutes 
  8. Turn the Toyota Prius Power Switch to ON 
  9. Ensure that the Toyota Prius READY Indicator Light Comes On 
  10. Remove the Jumper Cables in Reverse Order 
  11. Re-Install the Toyota Prius Engine Cover

  8. Start the Engine of the Second Vehicle, Increase Engine Speed and Run for 5 Minutes 
  9. Turn the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Power Switch to ON 
  10. Ensure the READY Indicator Light Comes On 
  11. Remove the Jumper Cables in Reverse Order 
  12. Close the Terminal and Fuse Box Covers
